Brooke Major - Shadow and Light
Brooke Major is an American artist native of Atlanta, Georgia . Brooke splits her time between her now home base in Normandy France where she operates a horse breeding operation while keeping an art studio in Clayton GA. You can find many equestrian subjects in her work, as well as European architecture, especially gothic cathedrals, of which she is fascinated by the architects of our past.
Brooke has been practicing art ever since she was the age of three. Always passionate about painting she’s taken art lessons with professional artists starting at the age of five. While attending grade school teachers entered her work into art contests and won numerous prizes. These accolades led to a career choice: becoming a professional artist. Brooke received a degree in international relations at an American university in Paris while auditing courses at the Paris Fine Arts school.
She knew that she had to be original with her work in order to be different and stand out She decided to sculpt white oil paint to play with shadow and light.
By the age of 21 she was exhibiting in galleries in Atlanta Ga and Deauville France. Toda, her work can be seen in several galleries across the United States: Thomas Deans Fine Art in Atlanta, GA, The Whiteside Gallery in Cashiers NC, Schoonover Gallery in Steamboat Springs Colorado, La Bottega Gallery in Laguna Beach, California, The Bee Street Gallery in Dallas and Forth Worth Texas, and coming soon: Karen Anderer Fine Art in Pennsylvania, as well as pending contracts in Nashville, Tenn and Charleston SC.
Brookes work as been prized at many salons and contests including the Judges choice award at ARtfest: Clayton, 1st place Lefranc et Bourgeois painting contest: section Bas Relief, Grand Prize of the Rene Clement Bayer Salon, Peoples Choice award at the Saint Frajou Museum and the Prize of the City of Champagne sur Seine.
