COCO Bahamas Seaplanes - Inside The Secret Luncheon That Lures Jetsetters From Around The World
Written By Caoilfhionn Rose
Chatter and laughter between friends old and new echoes down the long, beautifully decorated tables, adorned with island florals, delicious food, and familiar smiles. Swathes of flowering jungle, coconut palm groves, and a deserted white sand beach act as the backdrop to what I guarantee will remain a core memory for you. It can only be the famed Kamalame Cay luncheon.
Once an event penciled in my calendar and planned for months in advance, it’s now a front-runner for my long weekends. No longer must we dread the long transit times to reach tropical nirvana. Swapping crammed, tired and drab departure halls for all-out aviation glamour when journeying the islands of The Bahamas has never been easier than with the ultra chic, COCO Bahama Seaplanes - the first Bahamian, year-round domestic amphibious airline to launch in over 50 years.
As with all things Kamalame, the COCO experience is one steeped in style, with the elegant flair synonymous with this famed island retreat. Adorned with vivid illustrations of Bahama wood star - the first Bahamian, year-round domestic amphibious airline to launch in over 50 years.
As with all things Kamalame, the COCO experience is one steeped in style, with the elegant flair synonymous with this famed island retreat. Adorned with hummingbirds, indigenous to the resort’s island home of Andros, the seaplanes are a stylish standout feature on any runway, and the flight experience is exceptional.
Greeted in Nassau by the COCO concierge team in custom, tailored uniforms and towering Louboutins, guests are whisked away to the private terminal to enjoy a gracious and friendly welcome before boarding the flight with its all Bahamian crew.
Whilst on board, I was able to enjoy a spectacular over water sightseeing tour of the Andros Great Barrier Reef and the many secluded islands and Cays. Those curious guests unable to peel their eyes away from the windows may even see pods of wild dolphins or pilot whales.
Landing at this coastal paradise, COCO touches down on the pristine white beach, where the Kamalame team awaits with warm smiles, fresh coconut cocktails, and a cold lemongrass scented refreshing towel.
If like me you’re an avid explorer, COCO is also on hand to whisk you off to explore some Bahamian treasures including, Spanish Wells, swimming with pigs in Exuma, day trips to Harbour Island, or a seaplane safari to see the beautiful flamingos on the west side of Andros.
Currently with two seaplanes, and expanding to a fleet of four by the end of the year, COCO and Kamalame Cay have outdone their peers again, proving that stylish, elegant weekends in The Bahamas are no longer just for the glamorous jet set and the likes of Serena Williams, Penelope Cruz or Nicole Kidman but are available for everyday adventurers like you and me.
