Different Kinds of IVF and Why You Should Get Them in the Czech Republic

IVF is a costly treatment–depending on where you live and what kind of IVF you choose. The cost of IVF in the United States is on average 12,000 USD per cycle. Unfortunately, many unlucky families and singles that need help to conceive will not be able to pay for such an expensive treatment. Luckily, there is a solution to this problem.

Many countries such as the Czech Republic offer good quality, successful IVF treatments for just a small fraction of what it would cost to undergo IVF treatment in the United States.

Keep on reading to find out what types of IVF treatments are available and why you should consider IVF in Prague.

IVF With Egg Donation

For women who do not produce viable eggs, this is the best option to consider. During the donor egg IVF treatment, a young and fertile egg of a donor is placed inside the Fallopian tube of the recipient. This method is also used by women who have a genetically transmitted disease that could be passed on by the child, or who suffer from Premature Ovarian Failure.

In Prague or the Czech Republic, women that want to undergo this procedure must not be over 49 years old. This country is one of the most affordable European countries to undergo donor egg IVF or IVF involving donor sperm. The Czech Republic has high medical standards and must report to several institutions.

The average costs of IVF with donor egg or sperm are between 4000 and 8000 euros. However, be aware that it is not allowed for same-sex couples or single women to undergo IVF treatment in this country.

Natural IVF

Natural IVF is the most affordable option as you do not need to take drugs to stimulate the growth of follicles. Instead, it follows the natural selection of the leading follicle. Regular IVF uses drugs to stimulate the production of eggs and the growth of the embryo. With natural IVF your body oversees selecting the best egg, without the use of drugs. This method increases the chance of becoming pregnant drastically. A major advantage of natural IVF is that back-to-back cycles are possible.

The egg will be extracted and fertilized with your partner’s or donor’s sperm. It takes only a few minutes to extract the egg and no sedation or pain relief medication is needed. Only two to three days later the embryo will be implanted in the uterus. This method is used by women who respond poorly to fertility drugs or are experiencing tubal failure.

IVF with your own egg in the Czech Republic costs between 2700 and 5700 euros.

IVF and Frozen Embryo Transfer

Frozen Embryo Transfer, also referred to as FET, is a method where one or two embryos that have been frozen during an IVF treatment cycle are thawed and transferred to the uterus. It can be very beneficial for women who want to become pregnant at a later age. On top of the costs of IVF, Frozen Embryo Transfers have an additional price of between 750 and 1000 euros.

However, this method has a significantly lower success rate than implanting a fresh embryo. The success rate for transferring a frozen embryo is about 23% in the Czech Republic where a fresh embryo has a chance of 42%.
