From Local Roots to an $8 Million Regional Operation: The Growth of Bayshore Plumbers

Bayshore Plumbers began as a locally rooted plumbing business in Redwood City, but it has since grown into a substantial regional operation serving residential and commercial customers across the San Francisco Peninsula and South Bay.

Drawing on more than two decades of industry experience, the family-owned company now generates more than $8 million in annual revenue. It completes approximately 6,500 jobs each year, employs about 35 people and operates a fleet of roughly 25 service and installation vehicles. Bayshore has also received more than 1,000 Google reviews while maintaining a rating close to five stars.

Handling 6,500 jobs a year means completing more than 120 customer assignments during an average week. Each call involves more than simply sending a plumber to a property. Behind the scenes, employees manage customer intake, scheduling, dispatch, diagnosis, estimates, materials, fieldwork, quality control, billing and follow-up.

The company’s team includes technicians, installers, dispatchers, managers, maintenance workers and customer service and operational support staff. Its fleet serves Redwood City, San Mateo, Burlingame, Belmont, San Carlos, Atherton, Menlo Park, Palo Alto, Los Altos, Mountain View, Sunnyvale, Cupertino and neighboring communities.

That operation is supported by a 10,755-square-foot office and yard in Redwood City, along with nearly 5,600 square feet of warehouse space. Together, the facilities provide more than 16,000 square feet for vehicles, inventory, materials, equipment and field operations.

Bayshore has also invested in specialized equipment that allows its technicians to take on work beyond routine plumbing repairs. Its equipment includes a mini excavator, trenchless systems, epoxy and brush-coating equipment, Perma-Liner and cured-in-place pipe equipment, hydro-jetting and mini-hydro-jetting systems, and Picote pipe-cleaning and rehabilitation technology. These resources allow the company to handle projects ranging from common plumbing failures to excavation, sewer rehabilitation and complex underground pipe work.

Its residential and commercial services include fixture installation, plumbing repairs, re-piping, sewer and drainage work, sewer-camera inspections, hydro-jetting, smoke testing, gas and water leak detection, water-line tracing, sewer ejector systems and storm-water sump systems. Bayshore also installs and services conventional, tankless and heat-pump water heaters, provides water-treatment solutions and offers preventive-maintenance programs.

For larger sewer and infrastructure projects, the company performs open-trench and trenchless sewer replacement as well as CIPP and Perma-Liner rehabilitation. Bayshore holds both a California C-36 Plumbing Contractor license and a Class A General Engineering Contractor license. The C-36 license covers its core plumbing work, while the Class A license extends its qualifications to fixed infrastructure and general engineering projects.

That combination becomes especially important when underground work goes beyond interior plumbing and requires excavation, trenching, utility work, surface restoration or work involving streets and public infrastructure. It allows Bayshore to oversee a project from the initial diagnosis and pipe inspection through rehabilitation or substantial underground construction. The company is also recognized as a Disabled Veteran Business Enterprise, which supports its participation in qualifying public-sector projects in addition to its private work.

Customer reputation has played an important role in the company’s growth. More than 1,000 Google reviews represent a significant record in an industry where customers often call during stressful situations such as sewer backups, gas concerns, water leaks, failed water heaters, damaged pipes and drainage problems.

Those situations test more than a technician’s plumbing knowledge. Customers also judge how quickly a company responds, how clearly the problem is explained, whether the worksite is kept clean and whether the company takes responsibility for the final result. Customer accounts published by Bayshore describe technicians identifying difficult problems, communicating their findings and completing major projects. One longtime customer reported working with the company for more than a decade on several substantial jobs, including a complete sewer-line replacement.

The Peninsula presents its own mix of plumbing challenges. Older properties in Redwood City may still rely on aging cast-iron or galvanized systems, while high-value homes in Atherton and Palo Alto can require detailed diagnostics and solutions that minimize disruption. Commercial properties bring another level of urgency because a plumbing failure can interrupt business operations and create costly downtime.

Customers throughout Silicon Valley also tend to expect fast communication, careful project management and sophisticated technical solutions. Meeting those expectations consistently requires an organization with experienced employees, specialized equipment and reliable systems supporting every technician in the field.

Bayshore is led by Sam Jimenez, a Redwood City native and former U.S. Army Green Beret. Under his leadership, the family-owned company has emphasized integrity, accountability, craftsmanship and long-term relationships with customers.

Its growth shows how a skilled-trades business can expand over time without losing its local foundation. Successful projects lead to referrals, customers return for additional work, technicians develop deeper experience and investments in equipment allow more specialized services to be handled in-house.

In a region better known for technology companies and venture-backed startups, Bayshore Plumbers represents a different kind of business success. It has grown from a local plumbing company into a multimillion-dollar regional operation through experience, technical capability, operational discipline and thousands of problems solved for the communities it serves.
