Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta - A Winning Formula

What do one of the world’s most famous fashion design houses and an Italian Yacht Club have in common? Sailing superyachts. Lots of them. We put our best foot forward and took a walk along the dock at the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta, in Porto Cervo.
The Maddelana Archipelago off Sardinia’s northeastern coast offers some of the world’s finest cruising grounds. For yachts of all sizes, these island rock formations offer sheltered bays, turquoise waters, and champagne sailing conditions.
The village of Porto Cervo sits at the centre of this azure coastline. A premier seaside resort and an A-lister playground since the 1960s, its marina development places this Italian idyl high on the list of luxury destinations.
Founded in 1967 by His Highness the Aga Khan IV, the Yacht Club Costa Smeralda (YCCS) in Porto Cervo was established to support the sport of sailing, and it’s been an iconic landmark for sailing enthusiasts ever since. Today, it’s a prestigious club house that boasts reciprocal agreements with the Yacht Club de Monaco, the New York Yacht Club, the Royal Yacht Squadron, and the Norddeutscher Regatta Verein. At the forefront of the international yachting scene, host to a packed calendar of world-famous regattas every summer season, it’s no surprise that the Club has attracted big-name sponsorship for its flagship event – the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta.
Now in their fifth year as title sponsors for the superyacht regatta, the 2026 edition of the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta welcomed a fleet of 17 sailing superyachts.
Alongside the on-water action was a super-exclusive social programme of effortlessly chic but oh-so-stylish cocktail receptions, dinners and parties. The piazza in front of the Club played host to a Giorgio Armani pop-up lounge and shop, all beautifully curated to turn the heads of yacht owners and style seekers.
The spectacle of these ginormous sailing yachts as their power up on the breeze and cut round the racecourse markers really is something special. The fleet was divided into two classes, with the Swan 115 ‘Moat’ and the Southern Wind 96 ‘Liberty Squared’, reigning victorious and seeing their names inscribed on the Silver Jubilee Cup that sits pride of place in the Yacht Club trophy cabinet.
The owner of Moat commented: “I thank Giorgio Armani for their support of the regatta, the YCCS — of which I am a member and which I love deeply — for their organisation, and all the competitors who return every year regardless of who wins. This is a truly unique regatta, for the spirit that defines it and for the extraordinary place in which it is held.”
The Southern Wind Trophy, reserved for yachts build by this particular shipyard and competed for as part of the Giorgio Armani Superyacht Regatta, was also awarded to ‘Liberty Squared’.
Though exact dates are yet to be announced, there is already talk on the dock of who’ll take the regatta win in 2027. One thing we can be sure of, is that sailing superyachts and super-style will continue to go hand-in-hand.
