If you often find yourself with extra time on your hands then it might be time to find yourself a hobby. There are so many options when it comes to hobbies, the key is finding the one or two things that you enjoy. If you don’t enjoy it then there is no point, as you will dread it rather than look forward to it.
If you need some inspiration then check out the list below to see if there is anything on there that you haven’t tried yet.

Cycling
One hobby that can certainly get the wind through your hair is cycling. If you love being outdoors but walking isn’t your thing then cycling is the next best thing. Hop on your bike and see where it takes you. Cycling is great if you are making an extra effort to be kind to the environment, you could cycle to work or enjoy it as part of a family adventure.
The key to cycling and being comfortable is getting the right bike. The last thing you want or need is to be riding a bike that isn’t your size, this can make everything a little trickier. You will also need to decide the type of bike you want to ride, two popular options include hybrid and mountain bikes.
Support Groups
Do you want to attend or help other men with their mental health? This is such a lovely thing to do and can really make a difference to someone's life. If you have experienced hardship and a strain on your own mental health then you know exactly how other people could be feeling. If there are support groups in your neighborhood then offer your services. They will be grateful to anyone who volunteers their time and support. You never know this is something that could take your actual career in a completely different direction.
Reading
If you love nothing more than sitting down with a good book then why not, if this is how you relax then who are we to judge. There is nothing wrong with reading and it can give your mind a break from all the crazy that is your life sometimes. There can be nothing nicer than heading to your local library to enjoy some peace and quiet, although libraries aren’t quite as quiet or silent as they used to be. You can enjoy the same feeling while chilling in bed, on the sofa, or even in the bath. Grab your favorite author and see how far you can get in the spare time that you have to play with.
Gaming
Gaming is one of those hobbies that could mean absolutely anything, from using a deck of cards to using your imagination. Gaming is a whole new world that has only just started to be uncovered. Role play gaming sessions are becoming increasingly popular so if you are into this then research your local group. They will always be on the lookout for people who make their games even better. Alternatively, you don’t actually have to play with anyone. If you have a console or PC then you can sit on your own and play one-player games. There are a whole host of them out there, so find the type of gaming setup you love and go for it. Enjoy that time out from the world, regaining some energy.

Hunting
Another out there hobby that not many people know about is hunting. If you love firing your weapons but need a controlled place to do so then you could hit your local shooting range. They will also have weapons of all different calibre and ammo that you can try out. Make sure you are adhering to all the rules and regulations so nobody gets hurt. Using a shooting range with designated targets on the walls is far better than blind firing at trees or other things in the wild. There is less chance of people or animals getting injured in your cross fire.
Diving
If you want something that will likely take you around the world as a hobby then how about looking into diving? This is not for everyone, especially if you don’t like being surrounded by open water. Maybe you had a little taster session in your local pool or body of water and thoroughly enjoyed it. Scuba diving and freediving are not cheap hobbies by any stretch of the imagination, however, there are some gorgeous dive spots all around the world.
If there is a group of you then even better, you can spend time exploring places like the Great Barrier Reef and the Galapagos Islands. Make sure you are being safe and respecting the sea/ocean, it can be a very unforgiving place with strong currents and mean sea creatures.
Weight Training
Finally, last but not least if you love getting into the gym and lifting weights then did you know this could become your hobby? Weight training is very intense and you might need some help and assistance in the beginning stages. However, once you get into it you might really love it and want to carry it on. The great thing about weight training is that it can take you to competitions and all around the world, meeting likeminded people.
So, head on down to your local gym. Alternatively, if you have enough room and a big enough setup then you could invest in the weights to use in the comfort of your own home. Be careful placing weights directly onto the floor as this can lead to cracks and accidental damage.

We hope you found this article helpful and it gave you some key ideas on how to pass the time, if you have any. As a man you may be busy working and providing for your family, however, it is also important to remember yourself. Doing too many things for other people can quickly lead to burnout, and nobody wants that. Schedule some much needed time off to carry out hobbies and see your friends.
