How Celebrity Brands Are Expanding Beyond Music and Movies
Once upon a time, celebrities were more or less fixed into particular categories. Musicians were musicians, sports heroes did their thing, and the only other times we got a glimpse of these superstars were in the occasional perfume ad. But those days are long gone. These days, the biggest stars are shining in everything from their own clothing lines to eponymous casinos and more.
While some of these crossovers may be well known, others might surprise you. The bottom line is: if you have the means, anything is possible. And these celebrities are taking advantage of their names in ways we never before thought possible.

Casinos and digital sportsbooks
Let’s start off by looking at the biggest money-makers for these already super-rich celebs. What better way is there to further grow your millions by investing in casinos and the like? Here are just a few of the stars who have increased their personal brands this way:
Ben Affleck. Affleck has held equity stakes in different casinos, such as the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino. He has also invested in digital sportsbooks. And beyond the equity, Affleck himself is known to be a killer player in blackjack, having once earned almost $1 million on a single game.
Tobey Maguire. Maguire is part of a group that owns the Hollywood Park Casino, a hugely successful California casino that pulls in over $500 million in annual revenue. Maguire himself is a major poker fan, having once won $36 million over a three-year playing streak.
Drake. The famous rapper is a partner in the massive crypto casino Stake. It currently ranks as the largest casino and sportsbook to use the digital currency in the entire world. With up to 6000 games on offer and accepting up to 20 digital currencies, the momentum is only increasing for this global leader.
Whether it be casinos described at Bonusjet or a broad-reaching sportsbook, celebrities clearly see the value in investing in the gambling world. And people at that level surely know what it means to manage big money.
Beauty and wellness
Celebrities always have to look their best, right? So what more natural career extension could there be than into the world of beauty products? Be they high-end or organic, today’s celebs are definitely taking advantage of the opportunity to venture into the science of beauty. This includes:
Rihanna. We probably don’t have to tell anyone what Fenty Beauty is. Back in 2017, the famous singer got together with LVMH–arguably the world’s most famous luxury brand–to launch a makeup line that emphasized shade inclusivity and super-precise skin tone matches.
Selena Gomez. Gomez went a step beyond mere products in her Rare Beauty line. Realizing the importance of mental health advocacy, the superstar has committed to donating a portion of all her revenues to the Rare Impact Fund, supporting youth mental health and education.
Ariana Grande. In keeping with her eccentric style, the celeb started REM beauty in 2021. Grande's cosmetics line features such funky options as futuristic liquid eyeshadows and sassy lip-plumping glosses.
There are others, too. Kim Kardashian (was there ever any doubt?), Jessica Alba, and Gwyneth Paltrow are just a few of the big names that have expanded into beauty and wellness.
Apparel
Another clear move for celebs to make is into the apparel industry. You might even say that people forced to spend so much time on their appearance deserve to have their own lines. Here are a few of the people branching out in this direction:
Kim Kardashian (uhgain!). Kim actually did more than just invent a clothing line. She invented an entirely new concept: body-positive shapewear that makes any gal proud to strut her stuff. Her line also focuses on matching skin tones precisely to give people extra confidence.
Beyonce. Beyonce’s Ivy Park athleisure line has made waves for its high-fashion aesthetics, gender inclusivity, and uniquely personal touch. The famous singer showed the world what power is made of when she took back full control of the company in 2023.
We could go on about the number of celebs with apparel lines. Sports stars are an obvious one, but the point is that everyone is getting on the biggest bandwagons these days. And many of them are making a giant splash with it.
And so much more
The list of celebrity brand diversification is growing all the time. While not every additional venture is a smashing success, there have been enough big stories among top stars that others are surely inspired to reach out in new directions, too. After all, we all had more than one dream in the past. If you have the means to pursue them, why not give it a go?
