Kirkwood Mountain Resort - A True Mountain Escape - Lake Tahoe

Where the steep and deep produces hair-raising cliff drops, and bumps and open bowls ensure your legs feel like Jell-O when lifts close. Every day at Kirkwood is a chance to choose your own adventure. With 2,300 acres of terrain and over 2,000 feet of vertical, Kirkwood is truly an outdoor playground packed with thrills. The rugged terrain and prolific deep snowpack beckons shredders for steep lines they won’t soon forget. The skiing and riding in the Timber Creek base area offers an ideal place to progress your skills and enjoy perfect groomers, moderately-pitched tree runs, and small gullies. As we celebrate 50 years of #KirkwoodDeep this season, our community revels in a ski culture that persists through a close-knit group of dedicated big mountain skiers and riders.

50th Anniversary: This year, Kirkwood celebrates 50 years of skiing and riding. Our community has strong ties to this mountain and celebrating its rich history is sure to have everyone reminiscing of deep winters past. Come celebrate with us!

Family Learning Zone: Timber Creek’s secluded location, natural fall lines, kids adventure area, slow zones and dedicated chairlifts make it one of the top places to learn to ski. At Timber Creek, natural “enhanced teaching terrain” in green gullies help build skills and progress those who are newer to the sport. The ideal location of Timber Creek naturally separates ability levels, as advanced skiers and riders do not use the dedicated base, and sets families and learners up to quickly rent gear, sign up for classes and be on the mountain together.

Sense of Community: When you ski or ride at Kirkwood, you’re immediately part of a close-knit community. Generations of locals have called this mountain home, taught their kids to ski and ride here, and reveled in deep winters of epic powder. If you want to know where the best lines are, just ask.

Pride of place runs deep and there is always room for new members.

Banked Slalom: Kirkwood’s 28th Annual Banked Slalom is back again! Day one will be for the kids and families, while day two is for the adults. Held in Snow Snake Gully this event is a staple for the mountain and the community. Test your skills against some of the best locals and see who comes out fastest.

Not participating? Make sure you’re at the finish line to cheer on your favorite racer through the bottom.

New Year’s Eve Celebration: A family-friendly staple that everyone looks forward to, we ring in the New Year with a torchlight run from the top of chair 5. The kids love being a part of this special parade and the adults love the chance to socialize in the Kirkwood Village.
