McConaghy Boats: Redefining excellence in yachting with the launch of the MC86GT

For over 50 years, McConaghy Boats has been a dominant force in high-performance yachting. With an unmatched track record of innovation and craftsmanship, the brand has built a legacy that includes 80 podium finishes in the prestigious Rolex Sydney Hobart regatta—eclipsing every other yacht manufacturer. Today, McConaghy continues to lead the industry, shaping the future of yachting through groundbreaking designs and technologies.

McConaghy has proven itself time and again as a pioneer in performance vessels. As the exclusive builder of the Emirates Team New Zealand-designed AC40 foiling yacht for the 37th America’s Cup, the company has showcased its expertise in engineering vessels capable of flying over water at three times the speed of the wind. The AC40 and the hydrogen-powered Chase Zero, which can reach speeds of up to 50 knots, underscore McConaghy’s relentless commitment to pushing boundaries in speed, innovation, and sustainability.

The MC86GT is the latest jewel in McConaghy's crown—a remarkable vessel that exemplifies the brand’s leadership in custom and semi-custom performance luxury yachts. This groundbreaking yacht is designed for discerning seafarers seeking the perfect combination of performance and opulence.

With a length overall (LOA) of 25.54 meters and a beam of 9.30 meters, the MC86GT is a sleek powerhouse crafted using advanced materials and technologies. Constructed through a controlled epoxy vacuum infusion process with E-glass and Corecell, the yacht offers unparalleled lightweight strength and rigidity.

The MC86GT’s hull design reflects McConaghy’s expertise in hydrodynamic optimization, employing advanced methodologies used for America’s Cup yachts. Fourteen hull shapes were rigorously tested using RANS CFD analysis to maximize performance across a broad speed range. Design innovations included exploring prismatic coefficients, transom immersion, and rocker shapes. Ultimately, a combination of elliptical cross-sections and higher prismatic coefficients delivered exceptional hydrodynamic efficiency. This ensures optimal performance across a range of speeds, with a cruising range of up to 4,500 nautical miles at 10 knots and a top speed of 30 knots.

What sets the MC86GT apart is its extraordinary design and luxurious interiors. Featuring a striking sports coupe profile, the yacht is built for offshore holidays and fast passages, yet offers unparalleled comfort. The expansive saloon—nearly double the size of those found on 100-foot power yachts—creates an impressive sense of spaciousness and luxury. Free of bulkheads and partitions, this open-plan living area flows seamlessly into the aft deck, ideal for entertaining or relaxing in style. Designed for panoramic views and socializing, it provides a perfect space to enjoy the ocean with family and friends.

Below deck, the yacht accommodates up to three VIP guest cabins, a luxurious master suite, and a crew cabin, ensuring privacy and comfort for all aboard. Top-end finishes, including Sunbrella fabrics, Foglizzo leather, and sleek custom joinery, reflect McConaghy’s dedication to quality and detail.

A highlight of the MC86GT is its hidden automated tender lift system, discreetly integrated into the vessel's bow. This innovative solution can easily handle the Williams DieselJet 505 tender, with a length of 5.03 meters and a dry weight of 905 kilograms, ensuring effortless launch and retrieval while maintaining the yacht’s sleek and refined design.

The introduction of the MC86GT marks a new chapter in McConaghy's tradition of innovation. This vessel embodies the brand’s philosophy of blending cutting-edge performance with refined elegance, offering owners a platform to explore the seas in unmatched style and comfort.

As McConaghy Boats celebrates its history of excellence, the MC86GT stands as a testament to the brand’s unwavering vision for the future of yachting. Discover more at www.mcconaghyboats.com and let McConaghy turn your seafaring dreams into reality.
