Ocean Independence - M/Y Soaring - A Spectacular Creation
M/Y Soaring represents the formation of a truly custom design, fuelled by a deep passion and love from her owner throughout the build process. Just two years after bursting onto the scene as one of the yachting world’s finest works of art, the spectacular Soaring is now looking for a new owner to continue her journey with.
Soaring’s story began when a highly experienced owner commissioned the trailblazing German shipyard, Abeking & Rasmussen, to build him a distinctive yacht to use as a charter-friendly family home. The design was realised by Focus Yacht Design, who created Soaring’s innovative single fluid line from the bow to the bathing platform. The remaining exterior lines are broken up by bold black windows that, paired with the lighter grey hull and orange boot stripe, give Soaring a modern and sporty style.
Thanks to the work of an experimental designer and a trusting owner, the ambition to have a yacht that stands out from the crowd was achieved. And the inside of Soaring is just as attractive. Also created by Focus Yacht Design, the tasteful use of colour, texture, and patterns throughout never fails to leave guests in amazement around each corner and between each room. The consistent use of dark and light veneers throughout the yacht gives Soaring a rich elegance, which is further embraced by the quality and craftmanship present within each element of the interior.
The décor becomes more vibrant in the staterooms, with each of the six suites taking on a different theme. There are artistic depictions of natural elements such as shells, birds and plants in the bathrooms, on the floors, doors, and more notably on the headboards. The special meaning behind each custom artwork is to be decided by the guests.
Spread across four decks, the interior layout dedicates an entire deck to the owner. On the upper deck aft, the rear-facing master suite’s connection to a secluded aft deck and cosy sofas creates a private indoor-outdoor sanctuary. The forward part of the deck is for a panoramic observation lounge where guests can relax on the sleek custom-made furniture, part of which hides a television. With geometric bookshelves covering the wall, the library next door is another serene and elegantly decorated area to relax.
The sundeck is Soaring’s highest area and gives guests a sheltered space to enjoy the bar, an integrated Jacuzzi with surrounding sunpads and a lounge area. There are more leisure amenities on the lower deck, where the beach club and bathing platform form the perfect daytime hangout. Decorated with bleached wood and plush furnishings, the beach club is kitted out with a massage room, sauna, steam room, and gym area. Behind one door lies a beautifully tiled Hamman, while another leads to the toy store. With some of the crew experts in most water sports, the store is stocked with everything from diving equipment and water skis, to Seabobs and Segways. An impressive addition to Soaring’s inventory is her two custom tenders, as the 9-metre limousine and 7.5-metre open tender carry the same light grey colour and bright orange exterior stripe of the mothership.
Thanks to the exceptional work of Abeking & Rasmussen, a standout trait of Soaring is that she was constructed with the greatest care and attention to detail. The yard also ensures that every superyacht it builds runs quietly with extremely low levels of noise and vibration. Soaring has also been created with the latest industry regulations and best practices in mind, including the eco-friendly equipment needed for her to adhere to IMO Tier III standards.
Having been brought in as her manager and charter broker during her construction, the team at Ocean Independence are well acquainted with Soaring. Her first two years as a fully-fledged member of the global fleet have seen her become a busy charter yacht preserved in pristine condition.
Soaring is clearly something special. And this, along with her timeless design and forward-thinking specification are what will see Soaring remain a sought-after superyacht for years to come.
