Tordrillo Mountain Lodge has opened the AlpenSauna, the world’s first and only heli-sauna, in June, as part of its new wellness programming for the summer season. The custom-built AlpenSauna will be placed in spectacular, remote locations exclusively accessible via private helicopter throughout the summer. Additionally, the luxury adventure resort will offer a new four-night wilderness wellness experience in late-August. This programming follows the February 2026 opening of Tordrillo’s brand-new, state-of-the-art wellness center and is all designed in collaboration with athletes, guides, and wellness experts to support performance, longevity, restoration and deep relaxation.

According to the Hospitality Financial and Technology Professionals (HFTP), a global nonprofit hospitality association, 84 percent of luxury travelers today seek tailored, meaningful, and effective wellness services that offer true benefits. These bespoke services often reflect broader lifestyle trends and incorporate both longevity and preventive health. Tordrillo Mountain Lodge recognized the desire for true wellness among its guests, and to accommodate this increased demand, designed the new wellness center as an expanded well-being amenity available to all guests, while also developing additional exclusive wellness offerings.
“Summer adventure in Alaska is increasingly coveted among people seeking outdoor activities and adventures in remote destinations,” said Mike Overcast, co-founder and owner of Tordrillo Mountain Lodge. “A summer stay at Tordrillo gives guests the opportunity to have that exclusive Alaskan adventure, now complemented by an emphasis on true wellness rooted in restoration, rejuvenation, and recovery.”

World’s Only AlpenSauna
Tordrillo Mountain Lodge is known for their sauna and cold plunge experience at the lake-side lodge, but new this summer, they will introduce the AlpenSauna, a new, remote wilderness ritual. This June, the Tordrillo team will place the exclusively-designed AlpenSauna by helicopter in extraordinary settings among the Tordrillo Mountain Range. Throughout the summer, the sauna will rest next to an alpine waterfall, near a crystal clear pool on the Triumvirate Glacier in the middle of a 28-mile ice field, high on a remote summit with an alpine lake and views of Mt. McKinley, and riverside deep in the Alaskan forest.

By moving the sauna on a regular basis, no two experiences will ever be the same; but guests are always guaranteed an unforgettable, primal contrast therapy experience, cycling between the sauna’s intense heat, pure glacier or mountain water plunges, and vast silence. In true Tordrillo fashion, the AlpenSauna Experience will feature luxury touches, including gourmet, chef-prepared bites, rejuvenating teas and fresh juices, relaxing cocktail service, and fresh linens to complete the ambiance.
Luxury Alaskan Wilderness Wellness Experience
New this summer, Tordrillo will offer its first-ever wellness package – a four-night immersion designed to challenge the body and quiet the mind. It will include activities like glacier hikes, alpine ascents, and more, alongside intentional guided movement, wilderness meditation, chef-designed cuisine, and much more.
New Wellness Center
Tordrillo’s new 2,400 square-foot wellness center was purpose-built for guests to rest, relax and rejuvenate after a day of extreme Alaskan adventure. The space features a dedicated yoga and a movement studio with premier equipment; massage therapy rooms outfitted with luxury touches including shou sugi ban walls – a centuries-old Japanese technique of charring cedar; and a made-to-order juice bar.
Additionally, guests can experience Shiftwave Therapy, an advanced nervous system therapy delivered in a zero-gravity recliner, where gentle, precisely engineered vibration and guided breath patterns ease the body out of stress and into deep parasympathetic calm. After a day exploring Alaska’s vast wilderness, this non-invasive experience helps release physical tension, quiet the mind, and restore energetic balance.

Adjacent to the wellness center is the resort’s beloved Nordic sauna, where guests can enjoy a traditional thermal circuit with a cold plunge in the resort’s private lake, followed by a traditional, wood-fired sauna experience designed to promote circulation, muscle recovery, and mental clarity
Summer at Tordrillo
During a summer stay, Tordrillo guests can experience a variety of adventure activities from climbing Alaska’s first and only Via Ferrata , accessible exclusively by helicopter, to heli-flyfishing, glacier hikes, flightseeing over the remote Alaskan landscape, and private trips to three different national parks including an opportunity to view the brown bears at Katmai National Park’s Brooks Camp.

In addition to the new wellness center and amenities, downtime at the lodge is designed to be leisurely and rejuvenating. After a day of adventure, guests can participate in a full range of activities on the resort’s private lake including snorkeling with salmon or paddleboarding, soaking in one of three custom outdoor spas under the northern lights, or enjoying the sounds of the loons in the distance while relaxing on the lakeside deck.
Tordrillo’s private chef curates daily menus based on guest preferences - with meals like Alaskan halibut and wagyu beef “surf ’n’ turf,” fresh-baked pastries, and made-to-order breakfasts, all served in the lakeside dining room or picnic-style during outings.
All stays include guided heli-excursions, three daily gourmet meals, gear and safety equipment, overnight accommodations in Anchorage on arrival night, and round-trip transportation from Anchorage to Tordrillo Mountain Lodge.
