Tyler Ellis - Glamour is Back

The past few months have been a whirl wind for Tyler Ellis, the pretty Los Angeles based accessory designer and daughter of the iconic fashion designer Perry Ellis. She has welcomed her first child (a little boy with her investor husband Benjamin Shriner), finished the refurbishment of her Brentwood home, launched a sustainable capsule collection made out of apple leather, collaborated with the Emirati couturier Hamda Al Fahim and designed the countless clutches and minaudières which have appeared on Hollywood’s endless red-carpet parade.

“I’m so thrilled to see the world opening back up and moving in a positive and healthy direction. The red carpets are roaring, glamour is back, and I’m honored to be part of these fabulous fashion moments. After a year or so of living in sweat pants with no makeup it’s finally time to pull out your favorite cocktail dress, a pair of striking heels and a sparkly clutch and feel like a princess again!”

Tyler Ellis’ clutches have fast become a red-carpet staple and her brand’s signatures of discerning luxury, functional design and artisanal craftsmanship have helped win the young designer an army of celebrity fans.

“It’s always so incredibly exciting to see my designs carried on the red carpet by such beautiful, influential and talented stars. These women have access to anything and everything and when they choose to carry my bags it means the world.”

A recent highlight for the brand was dressing the First Lady, Dr Jill Biden who carried Tyler Ellis to both the Inauguration Eve and the Inauguration Ceremony of her husband, President Joe Biden earlier on in the year.

“Watching the First Lady of the United States holding one of my designs for the entire world to see was a truly humbling and inspiring moment – one I will never forget. Dr. Biden has designers clambering to dress her and it was incredibly meaningful that she chose to represent my brand, an independent boutique label, showing her appreciation for quality, unique design and American designers.

For Fall Winter 2021, Tyler has incorporated apple leather into the collection offering her clients a sustainable alternative to her mainline. The new plant-based textile “Apple Vogue” has been created in partnership with the Italian ecologic textile developer Mabel Srl, and is produced using fibers derived from the industrial processing of apples, where industrial waste from the juice and jam industry is recovered and transformed into a new revolutionary raw material through a process patented by FRUMAT. This inevitably not only reduces the waste management costs and relative damages to the environment, but also offers a DMF free leather substitute, helping to lower the emissions and the consumption of energy often associated with the entire production chain in industry.

“My clients are used to the best of the best and want and expect nothing less. For me sourcing the right materials has always been key, which is why I was delighted when I received the “Apple Vogue” Leather samples. The texture, weight and over all composition are as close to the real thing as I have ever seen or felt. We also use a sustainable satin or micro-fiber lining to finish the bags. What really elevates the “Apple Vogue” capsule collection is the incredible handcraftsmanship that goes into making each piece. The hand stitching, painted edges, proper backing of materials and thoughtful details all play an interictal part in creating a luxury eco-bag. I’m so thrilled at the positive reaction I have received from the collection. Clients can’t believe the pieces are not animal leather, a big win for the eco-friendly initiative! “

Tyler Ellis’ “Apple Vogue Capsule is available to order from www.tylerellis.com prices range from $225 to $2600.
