The moment I stepped aboard the Viking Mars, I felt as though I had entered a serene floating sanctuary. For a more elevated experience, The Chef’s Table offered a multi-course tasting menu paired with carefully selected wines. Every dish was a work of art, presented with elegance and balanced flavors that lingered on the palate. And then there was afternoon tea, served in the Wintergarden beside the Main Pool. It was a quiet, indulgent ritual with delicate finger sandwiches, warm scones, and petite pastries accompanied by a rotating selection of international teas. Soft classical music drifted through the space, creating a moment of sophistication and calm that felt uniquely Viking.

The Spa & Fitness Experience

The LivNordic Spa was a sanctuary I returned to again and again. Inspired by Nordic wellness traditions, it offered distinct areas for men and women, each designed to soothe and rejuvenate. In the women’s area, I discovered a steam room, an aromatherapy sauna, and a relaxation lounge with plush loungers bathed in soft, natural light. The men’s area mirrored this calm, with a sauna, cold plunge shower, and meditation space for reflection and renewal. Signature treatments, from deep-tissue massages to rejuvenating facials, allowed me to feel both pampered and revitalized, providing the perfect counterbalance to days spent exploring port cities.

The gym, perched on the top deck, offered state-of-the-art equipment with panoramic ocean views. Morning workouts became a sensory delight, combining movement with the ever-changing beauty of the sea. There were dedicated spaces for yoga and stretching, while cardio machines and free weights allowed guests to maintain routines with ease. It was a rare pleasure to exercise while gazing out over the horizon, feeling both energized and serene.

Evenings aboard the Viking Mars were a blend of subtle sophistication and thoughtful engagement. Also, aboard the Viking Mars is Torshavn Club, offering an intimate evening escape with lively, engaging performances. The onboard Viking Band, featuring male and female vocalists accompanied by drums, bass, keyboard, and guitar, plays a dynamic mix of music genres, creating an energetic atmosphere perfect for dancing or socializing. Viking’s entertainment felt curated, exciting, and in harmony with the ship’s overall sense of luxury.

Ports of Call:  Luxury on Land

The Iconic Western Mediterranean itinerary offered a rich mosaic of experiences. In Barcelona, I wandered through the Gothic Quarter, marveling at intricate architecture and sunlit plazas. Monte Carlo radiated glamour, with luxury yachts and high-end boutiques lining the harbor. Sète in France is enchanted with its charming canals and vibrant markets, while Florence and Pisa captivated me with Renaissance art, architecture, and culinary treasures. Each port offered immersive excursions from private city tours to wine tastings and culinary masterclasses, allowing guests to explore with comfort, insight, and a touch of indulgence.
