Where Golf Meets Rock ’n’ Roll: Chad Smith and Andrew Watt’s Star-Studded Golf Jam ’26

Will Ferrell, Anthony Anderson, Joel Madden, Derek Fisher, Robby Krieger and more joined the Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer and Grammy-winning producer for an unforgettable day of golf, music and giving back at Sherwood Country Club.

The worlds of music, Hollywood, sports and golf converged at Sherwood Country Club in Thousand Oaks for Golf Jam ’26, an all-star charity event hosted by Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer Chad Smith and Grammy-winning producer and songwriter Andrew Watt. The esteemed golf and country club normally has a $300k initiation fee, for their in-demand world renowned golf course and facilities.

Designed as equal parts golf classic and live music experience, the Chad Smith Foundation Golf JAM event brought together a remarkable collection of celebrity players, musicians, actors, athletes and creatives for a day benefiting the Chad Smith Foundation, a nonprofit dedicated to expanding access to music education and opportunity for the next generation.

The guest list reflected the crossover between Smith and Watt’s worlds. Joining them were Will Ferrell, Anthony Anderson, Joel Madden of Good Charlotte, Kevin Connolly, Breckin Meyer, NBA legend Derek Fisher, Charlotte Lawrence, The Doors guitarist Robby Krieger, Alice in Chains bassist Mike Inez, actor and rapper Travis Bennett, better known as Yung Taco, golf personality Blake Webber, actor Darren Weiss, artist Jonas Wood, Tassilo von Fürstenberg, fashion designer Jon Buscemi, media personality Christopher Gialanella and sports host Madison Brodsky. Also in attendance were event producer Zev Norotsky, whose experiential agency ENTER produced the day, and Lewis Smith, Executive Director of the Chad Smith Foundation.

For Smith, the event represented a natural intersection of two passions: music and community. A Rock & Roll Hall of Fame member and longtime drummer for the Red Hot Chili Peppers, Smith has built a celebrated career in music spanning decades. Watt, meanwhile, has established himself as one of contemporary music’s most in-demand producers and songwriters, working with an impressive roster of internationally recognized artists. Together, the pair brought that musical pedigree to the golf course.

18 Holes, Celebrity Players and a Championship Setting

The day began on Sherwood Country Club’s Jack Nicklaus-designed championship course, where celebrity players took on 18 holes in a foursome scramble format. The setting was particularly fitting for an event that brought together elite entertainment and sport. Sherwood’s course has hosted major golf events and some of the sport’s most celebrated players, including the Tiger Woods World Challenge, the Shark Shootout and the PGA Tour’s 2020 ZOZO Championship.  

Following the golf classic, presented by Redan, guests transitioned from the course to an intimate live music experience. Watt joined Smith and an all-star group of musician friends for performances featuring Smith, Watt, Charlotte Lawrence, Josh Homme, Josh Klinghoffer and Robby Krieger. 

A Celebration With a Purpose

Between rounds and performances, guests enjoyed cocktails from Dos Hombres, founded by actors Aaron Paul and Bryan Cranston, alongside coffee from Jolene Coffee and Saint James Iced Tea. Additional hospitality was provided by Atlas Card, while Sherwood Country Club catered breakfast and lunch on the course.

The evening continued with dinner, live performances and an auction featuring one-of-a-kind items and experiences, with proceeds supporting the Chad Smith Foundation. Founded by Smith in August 2025 and co-founded with Executive Director Lewis Smith, the Chad Smith Foundation focuses on bridging gaps in music access and opportunity for underserved youth and K–12 students. Its mission centers on inspiration, access and support, with programs designed to provide music education, instruments, mentorship and financial resources.

The Foundation’s work is built around removing the financial and logistical barriers that can prevent young people from discovering and pursuing their musical passions. That mission gave Golf Jam ’26 its deeper significance.

Making Noise for the Next Generation

Music has been central to Chad Smith’s life and career, and Golf Jam ’26 transformed that personal connection into a communal experience, one that paired the excitement of celebrity golf with the energy of a live jam and the purpose of philanthropy.

For one day, Sherwood Country Club became a place where a Red Hot Chili Peppers drummer could share a fairway with Hollywood stars and NBA royalty, then step onto a stage with some of music’s most accomplished players. The event’s ultimate goal, however, extended far beyond the course or the stage.

Funds raised through Golf Jam ’26 will directly support the Chad Smith Foundation’s efforts to provide music education programs, equipment and scholarships to young musicians. The Foundation’s broader work is built around a simple premise: talent can be found anywhere, but access and opportunity are not always equally available.

Golf Jam ’26 was a celebration of what can happen when those worlds come together, when artists, athletes, entertainers and supporters use their collective reach to help make sure the next generation gets its opportunity to make some noise.
