Founded in Paris in 1785 by Charles-Basile Le Roy, L. Leroy is one of the great names that shaped the history of haute-horlogerie. For over two centuries, the Maison has measured not only time, but human ambition, artistic sensibility, and mechanical genius. From grand complications created for sovereigns, emperors, and cultural icon to marine chronometers that accompanied explorers across oceans, the Maison has continuously embodied the highest expression of watchmaking art.

The 21st century marks the beginning of a new chapter for L. Leroy, one that is firmly rooted in the past while fully embracing the expectations of today’s most discerning collectors.

Building on its historic heritage, L. Leroy proudly reaffirms its commitment to rekindling the Maison’s extraordinary legacy of precision, innovation, and refinement by creating exceptional timepieces. Every watch is conceived as a unique work of art, either fully bespoke or produced in extremely limited quantities, designed for connoisseurs searching for both rarity and the pinnacle of mechanical excellence.

The philosophy of rarity guides the brand’s contemporary collections ensuring that each piece remains and intimate object of art rather than a product of volume. Recent examples include the unique piece, Osmior Minute Repeater Flying Tourbillon, a poetic nod to a historic tact watch made in 1810 for Prince Emil Maximilian Leopold August of Hesse. It features an exquisite rotating translucent flinqué guilloché dial, a diamond-set hour hand, and a fully engraved case that required over 120 hours of painstaking craftsmanship.

Equally distinctive is the Bal du Temps, in the Osmior collection,  launched to celebrate the 240th anniversary in 2025, a model with a more contemporary aesthetics embellished with a skeletonised dial and the distinctive single hour hand that combines with the minute repeater complication to provide a full reading of the time. Precious materials such as gold, platinum, and the most modern grade 5 titanium go into the making of this model. And only 15 pieces of this model will adorn the wrists of their lucky owners worldwide.

At the heart of this contemporary vision beats another vocation and commitment from the past: to create “bespoke” watches – designed on request and shaped by the dreams of each customer.

Bespoke watchmaking is not an added service for L.Leroy; it is part of its DNA. Throughout its history, the Maison has produced extraordinary pieces commissioned by prominent personalities, many of which are now preserved in museums or within its own historical collection. Among the most celebrated is the legendary “Leroy 01,” commissioned by the Portuguese businessman Dr. Antonio Augusto de Carvalho Monteiro and now exhibited at the Musée du Temps in Besançon, France. Equipped with 27 complications, it was awarded the Grand Prix at the 1900 Paris Universal Exhibition. With its extraordinary mechanical complexity, it held the title of the world’s most complicated watch until 1989 - a testament to the daring spirit and technical mastery that define the brand.

Another remarkable creation is a refined ladies’ wristwatch commissioned to Le Roy & Fils around 1890 to be offered to King Edward VII. Preserved in its original box, the watch features a 25 mm 18k rose gold case with an elegant bracelet and safety chain. Its white gold bezel is set with 20 large diamonds and frames a captivating translucent blue guilloché dial.  The hand-wound that powers this timepiece boasts exquisite finishes.

Today, that same spirit lives on in every creation.

In the Geneva workshop, where each timepiece comes to life, tradition and innovation coexist in perfect balance, guided by an uncompromising attention to detail. Every timepiece, whether part of the contemporary collection or born from a dialogue with a client who has the desire to creating something that has never existed before, is the result of an extraordinary human journey, where master watchmakers, engravers, enamellers, gem-setters, and highly skilled finishing artisans work in harmony, united in the pursuit of absolute excellence. Each watch emerges as both an heir to history and a promise for the future.

Since 1785, L. Leroy has done more than just measure time. It has transformed it into an ongoing story by creating time as a work of art and ensuring that its legacy continues to inspire future generations.
