Bar Bas - The Sexy New Midtown Cocktail Lounge
The hidden French cocktail lounge located beneath Marseille invites New York’s fashion, nightlife and hospitality communities to discover its subterranean world this September.

Bar Bas, Hell’s Kitchen’s intimate French cocktail lounge hidden beneath in-demand notable restaurant Marseille, will officially celebrate its grand opening this September, timed to coincide with the energy and excitement of New York Fashion Week, following a soft roll out earlier this summer.
Tucked beneath the historic Hell’s Kitchen brasserie at 357 West 44th Street, Bar Bas offers an intimate, sexy escape from the city above, inspired by the laid-back glamour of French bars of the 1970s. With its low-lit atmosphere, intimate seating, French-inspired cocktails, wine and late-night dining, Bar Bas is designed as a destination for those looking to linger long after the fashion shows end and embrace a romantic atmosphere that lures in patrons for hours on end.
The upcoming Fashion Week grand opening marks the next chapter for the lounge, officially welcoming New York’s fashion, entertainment, hospitality and nightlife communities into its world, after a soft roll out over the last two months, building its mysterious allure and creating a buzz amongst New York social scenesters in the know.

At the heart of Bar Bas is a cocktail program created by Aviram Turgeman, featuring French-inspired seasonal interpretations of beloved classics. Highlights include the Zou Bisou Spritz, The Noble Martini, GnT Méditerranée, Joie de Vivre, Le Chat Noir and Le Panier ’75, a French 75-inspired cocktail made with Martell cognac, Tahitian vanilla, lemon and Taittinger Champagne.
The bar also offers a curated French wine selection and zero-proof cocktails, while the food menu embraces French classics and shareable favorites including steak frites, shrimp beignets, confit duck leg, escargot, tuna tartare and house-baked baguettes. Desserts include pot de crème au chocolat, crème brûlée and profiteroles.
