How to Tell You’ve Found the Right Moving Company for Your Gym Equipment

Let’s say you’re running a gym. Maybe you’ve found success with your business model. You have many loyal customers, and you’re making plenty of money as well.

However, a time might come when you decide you need to move to a new location. Perhaps you’re not getting along with the property manager, or maybe you’re seeing steady rent increases year after year.

No matter the reason why you’re picking up stakes and moving to a new locale, you will need to locate some reliable gym equipment movers. Let’s talk about how you can tell you’ve found the right company if you’re facing this situation at the moment.

They Charge a Price That You Can Accept

First, you need to think about the price a moving company quotes you if you’re moving your commercial gym to a new location. You probably have a certain amount of money allocated that you can spend on the move. You don’t want to go over that number.

If the price that the gym equipment movers quote makes sense to you, then you can move forward with that company. If you can’t afford to pay what they quoted, you must go with someone else.

You can probably find another moving company if you look around. At a minimum, you should get three or four quotes to see whether one of these companies can give you a better deal before you make your final decision.

They’ve Moved Gym Equipment Before

You want a company that does commercial moving. A company that only does residential moving won’t help you in this situation. However, you also want a moving company that does gym equipment moving specifically.

You will likely have huge racks of free weights, exercise mats, stationary bikes, and various other pieces of machinery. If you’re dealing with a company that doesn’t know how to move that equipment, they probably won’t know how to do it. They may not be able to secure the equipment to make sure they don’t damage it during the move. They might not even have the right trucks or other vehicles the job requires.

If it doesn’t say on the moving company’s website that they handle commercial gym moving jobs, ask the representative with whom you speak. If they admit they’ve never done a move like this, choose another option.

They’re Friendly

When you contact the moving company you’re considering and tell them about the job, you should pay attention. What impression does the person give you who you speak to? Do they seem friendly and accommodating, or do they seem surly or like you’re bothering them?

Remember that you’re voluntarily giving this company your business. You have no obligation to do so if they don’t seem appreciative of the job you’re giving them. If they seem rude or uninterested, you can always go with someone else. You should find plenty of moving companies that can handle the job, so give the business to one that seems engaged, respectful, and accommodating.

They Have the Right Insurance Policy

You should double-check to make sure that you’re using a company that has comprehensive insurance in place before you sign anything with them. Any commercial moving company needs insurance. While you probably don’t need to demand that the company representative show you the policy in writing, you should at least get verbal confirmation that they have it.

If the company you use doesn’t have insurance, this whole endeavor can backfire. You would that hope the moving company won’t damage any of your gym equipment while they are moving it, but it does happen from time to time. If it does, you’ll feel glad they have insurance in place to replace whatever piece of expensive machinery they broke.

They Offer You a Flat Rate for the Job

You might also have a moving company that gives you a quote, but then, when you look at the contract, you see unexpected clauses that you didn’t discuss. Maybe you see some fine print that looks a lot like hidden fees.

Unscrupulous moving companies can try to tack on some hidden fees after they finish the job, just like business entities in virtually any other niche. Make sure that when you get a quote from this moving company that they give you a flat rate that doesn’t have any potential add-ons. You don’t want any nasty financial surprises waiting for you once the company completes the move.
