Indri Single Malt Indian Whisky has achieved a historic milestone, becoming the first Indian whisky brand to win “Best Special Edition Design” at the prestigious World Whiskies Awards 2026. The accolade was awarded for its Diwali Collector’s Edition 2025, a limited release that merges exceptional craftsmanship with culturally rich design, placing Indian whisky firmly on the global stage for design excellence.

Created in collaboration with renowned designer Krsnaa Mehta, founder of India Circus, the Diwali Collector’s Edition 2025 is a visual and emotional tribute to India’s artistic heritage. Now available in the United States at a suggested retail price of $250–$300, the release reflects a growing global appetite for Indian single malts that combine storytelling, provenance, and premium positioning.
Drawing inspiration from the lush gardens of India’s royal past, the design evokes a world of quiet grandeur and timeless elegance. Majestic elephants, symbolic of strength and heritage, move gracefully through serene landscapes, while birds in flight add a sense of freedom and harmony. Architectural arches reminiscent of royal courtyards frame the composition, lending depth and structure to the artwork. Together, these elements create a layered visual narrative that transforms the bottle into a collectible object—one that resonates far beyond its contents.
More than a packaging achievement, the award signals a broader shift in how Indian whisky is perceived globally. Traditionally overshadowed by established whisky-producing regions such as Scotland and Japan, India is increasingly gaining recognition for both its liquid innovation and design sophistication. Indri’s win underscores how Indian brands are not only competing but leading in areas of creativity, storytelling, and cultural expression.

“The process of creating this design was deeply immersive and personal,” said Mehta. “The walking royal elephants and the royal courtyard were central to capturing the Indianness I envisioned—bringing together heritage, artistry, and a sense of quiet grandeur. I’m thrilled to see this work recognized on such a prestigious global platform.”
The Diwali Collector’s Edition 2025 is designed to capture the spirit of Diwali—a time of celebration, light, and togetherness. Through its use of rich, evocative colors, intricate patterns, and heritage-inspired textures, the bottle reflects the vibrancy and emotional resonance of the festival. Each detail has been carefully considered to evoke not just visual appeal, but a deeper connection to tradition and memory.
This approach positions the bottle as more than a vessel for whisky; it becomes a storytelling medium. The interplay of design elements invites consumers to engage with the cultural narrative behind the product, elevating it into a piece of functional art. For collectors and enthusiasts alike, the edition offers both aesthetic and emotional value, reinforcing the growing importance of design in the premium spirits category.
Over the years, Indri’s Diwali Collector’s Editions have built a reputation as some of the most anticipated annual releases in Indian whisky. Each iteration introduces a new design language and thematic exploration, celebrating different facets of India’s cultural identity. The 2025 edition marks a significant evolution in this journey, setting a new benchmark for how heritage and modern design can coexist in the global luxury market.
“With every Diwali edition, our goal is to celebrate India in its truest and most authentic form,” said Shalini Sharma, Head of Marketing at Piccadilly Agro Industries Limited. “The 2025 design is a tribute to our art, our symbols, and our stories. To have it recognized as the best in the world is incredibly meaningful. It reinforces our belief that Indian design—rooted in culture yet expressed with a contemporary lens—can stand proudly on any global stage.”
As Indian single malt continues to gain traction internationally, moments like this mark a turning point for the category. Indri’s recognition at the World Whiskies Awards not only highlights the brand’s commitment to excellence but also signals a broader cultural shift—one where Indian craftsmanship, storytelling, and innovation are increasingly influencing the global spirits landscape.
