voyager noun

voy·ag·er | \ˈvȯi-ə-jər\

1. One who travels on a long journey, especially by sea or through unfamiliar places.

2. An explorer or traveler, especially one who ventures far from home.

If ever a yacht was aptly named, the 61m / 201ft explorer yacht M/Y VOYAGER is just that.  Built by Astilleros Celaya S.A. and launched in 1973 as “Nefertiti”, she was one of the largest yachts of her time and was still number 10 until 2002 and the move towards much larger ‘mega’ and ‘giga’ yachts.

Even still, she is quite unique in her layout and amenities, offering 8 staterooms, including a full beam Owner’s Suite and 2 VIPs, plus 3 bunk cabins with an additional 5 beds.  Certified and insured to travel with 40 people in total, with accommodation for up to 22 guests, plus 19 members of crew including the captain, this makes her almost one-of-a-kind in the superyacht market.  Bear in mind, even those huge tech billionaire-owned 200+ft megayachts are usually only ‘rated’ to carry 12 guests at any one time.

Additionally, this is a ‘go anywhere’ vessel, designed as a timeless classic motor yacht to be enjoyed year-round, from summer cruising to winter exploration. With a Canadian coast guard specified and certified helicopter deck and a range.

of 6,500 nautical miles, cruising at 12.5kn, Voyager has served as the ultimate ‘lodge’ from which to launch heli-ski operations in some of the least accessible – and most coveted – ski areas of the world.  Her onboard crane is also used to launch a lightweight ‘foldable’ sea plane for when the yacht is moored off Monaco, but you want to fly to St. Tropez for lunch, for instance.

Weighing 752 GT, with a steel hull and aluminum superstructure, she sits in the water like a rock, unbothered by rough seas or choppy wake from passing boats during the busy Mediterranean season.  The ship has had extensive work carried out over the last 20 years to always keep her in prime operating condition. The latest, and 6th owners, have used Voyager as a private family vessel for the past 17 years and she has been impeccably maintained with extensive refits in 2005, 2020, 2015 and 2020, plus an interior refit completed in May 2025.

With luxurious, neutral tones and warm wood panels and finishes throughout, the main deck features a large bar, lounge, living and separate dining area.  Upstairs, the comfy sky lounge leads out to the vast sundeck featuring a shaded seating area, built-in bar, and outdoor dining.  Up again, and the helipad becomes an expansive sunbathing and lounge area with uninterrupted views of one’s surroundings.

It’s rare to encounter a vessel with such ‘go anywhere’ capabilities that include bringing so many friends and family along for the adventure!  To where would you voyage first?
