Perrelet welcomes 2023 with two new creations, designed for the man who likes to enhance his personality with a unique and distinctive style and pays great attention to the accessories that complement his look.
The latest proposals from the renowned Swiss Maison, whose roots date back to 1777, extend the ‘Turbine Carbon’ collection first launched in 2022.
This iconic line featuring the Turbine technology, patented by Perrelet in 2009 and now a trademark that sets it apart on the worldwide watchmaking scene, presents two new sporty-chic watches. Their distinguishing feature is the choice of colors : forest green and midnight blue tones decorate the ever-present lowerdial and time display. Both novelties boast a round high-tech case with a diameter of 44 mm, water-resistant to 10 atm, with a case body made of polycarbonate and carbon fibre. Two extremely light materials that make it very comfortable on the wrist. In addition, let’s not forget that carbon fibre has thermal insulation capacities, is resistant to temperature changes and chemical agents. All properties that give it a long-lasting resistance. The flat bezel and case back are made of matt black PVD-coated steel. The case band features the traditional vertical fluted decoration with a prominent crown, this latter introduced with the Turbine EVO line in 2019, for better grip and handling.
Co-star of these new proposals is the 12-blade turbine that recalls the aircraft propeller from which it takes its inspiration. This propeller, a component designed to rotate with high energy on the dial side and requiring great precision during its assembly, looks like a double rotor. While the Double Rotor technology, the first one patented by Perrelet and functional to the automatic movement that draws its energy from two rotors, the Turbine is not connected to the barrel because it would slow down its rotation speed. It has only a purely aesthetic function that allows for eye-catching optical effects and gives the watch a unique identity.
Made of black anodized aluminum, the 12-blade turbine moves at the slightest movement of the wrist, revealing its decorated sub-dial, always different according to the models. At its maximum rotation speed, these two new timepieces materialize the sun-satin finished sub-dials in forest green or midnight blue.
These two shades are applied to the hour ring and minute flange. The even Arabic numerals mixed with indices stand out in white on the “Turbine Carbon Midnight Blue” model, while the “Turbine Carbon Forest Green” version pairs them with beige. The same colors also characterize the hour and minute hands, treated with SuperLumi-Nova for optimal time reading in the darkness. Bright red for the central seconds hand, which brightens up the dial protected by scratch-resistant sapphire crystal.
“Turbine Carbon Forest Green” and “Turbine Carbon Midnight Blue” are powered by the automatic P-331-MH calibre, beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and providing a 42-hour power reserve when fully wound. This movement is housed in Soprod, one of the six production facilities of the Festina Group, owned by Miguel Rodriguez, to whom the brand belongs and is the manufacturer of all Perrelet timepieces. Highly reliable and precise in its performance, this powerful “engine” is guaranteed by COSC and Chronofiable certifications obtained after undergoing an intensive series of tests.
In addition to the exclusive aesthetics in line with contemporary trends, high-quality materials and excellent precision of the movement, which are essential features of all the collections, Perrelet pays great attention to finishing in respect of the high-end Swiss watchmaking art.
The sapphire crystal caseback highlights the circular-grained finish of the bridges, the colimaçon decoration of the main-plate, while the open-worked oscillating weight is rhodium-plated and embellished with the brand’s logo.
The watches are completed by an alligator-pattern calf leather strap with rubber lining, in forest green or midnight blue, both with black stitching and customized folding clasp. Delivered in a special ‘Tactical Box’, they are also provided with an additional black rubber strap and a fastening tool.
