Sun Valley Heli Ski - Come Fly With Us!

Come enjoy the spectacular Idaho backcountry with Sun Valley Heli Ski, the first heli ski operator in American Helicopter Skiing. Located in historic Sun Valley, SVHS has exclusive helicopter access to an amazing playground of 750,000 square acres, by far the largest heli terrain in the lower 48. Our legendary powder terrain offers runs for intermediate and expert skiers and riders.

Imagine ascending over majestic mountain peaks in the Smoky, Boulder and Pioneer Ranges in our 4-passenger A-star B3e, the unquestioned king of helicopters for Helicopter Skiing and Riding. You will feel your heart pumping as the helicopter begins its final descent (“the short and final,” as the guides call it), circles around once or twice and then lands on the top of the world. The excitement, views and camaraderie are second to none.

Sun Valley Heli offers full and half day heli skiing and riding as well as private charters. SVHS also offers customized tour packages that incorporates heli skiing and riding with other winter adventures, such as resort skiing, snowmobiling, cross country skiing, ski touring, rock and ice climbing and other activities.

Sun Valley Heli is also fortunate to have the luxurious Smoky Mountain Lodge, the only remote fly-in heli ski lodge in the lower 48 states. It has five bedrooms and can accommodate up to 10 persons. The Lodge is great for family and friend trips, corporate incentives and awards, continuing education programs and other retreats. If you’re looking for a remote heli ski lodge experience, it is much easier to access the Smoky Mountain Lodge, than having to deal with the long treks to get to the remote heli ski lodges in British Columbia and Alaska.

Our ski runs range from 1,500 to 3,000 feet of pristine Idaho powder. Groups are small with a guest to guide ratio of 4:1. The current team of guides is unsurpassed in offering over 100 years of collective experience; a testimony to the level of dedication and professionalism that distinguish SVHS as the preeminent U.S. heli ski operation. Personal service is the trademark of SVHS.

Full day heli skiers and riders typically enjoy lunch on a sunny and protected spot with exceptional views and camaraderie. All heli skiers and riders are provided with Mammut RAS Rocker 18L air-packs and brand new state of the art Barryvox avalanche transceivers.

Sun Valley Heli is fortunate to be located in historic Sun Valley, the first ski area in the western US. Bald Mountain, or Baldy, as the locals call it, offers 3,100 vertical feet of skiing and riding on open bowls, winding trails, gladed trees and other terrain features. It has a state of the art lift system that enables skiers and riders to log huge amounts of vertical feet on Baldy’s famous uncrowded runs. Ketchum, the ski town in Sun Valley, was founded in the 1800’s and is one of just a few true ski towns in the US. It is well known for its vibrant downtown with excellent dining, shopping and night life. Sun Valley is easy to get to with direct flights into Sun Valley Airport from 7 major cities, including Seattle, Portland, San Francisco, Los Angeles, Denver, Salt Lake City and Chicago.
