Dwayne Johnson - Teremana Tequila

Crafted amidst the highest peaks of the Jalisco Highlands, every step of Teremana’s tequila-making process is meticulously done to create delicious tequila that truly honors the land it comes from. Utilizing local businesses and practices allows them to create their sustainable ultra premium tequila.

Founder Dwayne Johnson worked with a Mexican family-owned distillery to build a unique home on the grounds solely for Teremana, Destilería Teremana de Agave. Here they craft Teremana with a love for great tequila made the right way, in small batches, by hand. Dwayne Johnson shares his thoughts on the brand, explaining that “after years of hard work, this is truly a dream come true. My team and I are committed to bringing you the highest in quality tequila, because quality, the people, the land and legacy are what matter most. From all of us here at Teremana, we invite you to come have a drink!”

Where is Teremana Tequila crafted?

Teremana Tequila is crafted in the highlands of Jalisco, Mexico, and is produced at one of the few Mexican owned family distilleries left. Teremana worked with the Lopez family to build a unique home solely for Teremana – Destilería Teremana de Agave. Teremana has always been produced at this distillery and is the only tequila made there.

What is the process for creating Teremana Tequila?

At Destilería Teremana de Agave, Teremana uses only one process and everything involved in the production process is made there, including brick ovens, open fermentation tanks, copper pot stills, and of course, the tequila, which is made in small batches, by hand. The nature of handmade copper stills dates back to the days of traditional tequila making and produces a cleaner, brighter tequila. Teremana harvests only fully matured agave, slow roast in old world brick ovens, and distills in handmade copper pot stills to bring out rich, flavorful tequila that reflects the earth it comes from.

How does Teremana implement sustainable practices when crafting their tequila?

Teremana uses a state of the art water filtration system that cleans the waste water left over from production. Teremana wanted to be 100% sure that creating this product wouldn’t create a toxic by-product that would affect the land, the people or the product. In addition, 100% of the leftover agave fibers from Teremana’s production are turned into compost that is used as an organic fertilizer for the agave fields.

What does ‘Teremana’ mean and how does it represent the brand’s message?

Teremana’s name translates as ‘spirit of the earth,’ from the Latin word ‘terra,’ meaning earth, and the Polynesian word ‘mana,’ meaning spirit. From taking care of the land where the agave is sourced, to the painstaking process of creating the tequila, to the people that work for the brand. Teremana stands for taking care of what and who they love.

Continuing with the brand’s mission to show appreciation and gratitude towards the people, Teremana launched the Mana Mobile, a food and drinks truck, this past summer to “Bring The Mana” to Americans far and wide. Since its debut, the Mana Mobile has traveled the length and breadth of the country, visiting towns, communities, and cities, and stopping by military bases, fire houses, hospitals, and other locations to share gratitude towards the nation’s first responders.
